This image is a Bitmap.  Bitmap consists of only two colors.  The colors are white and black.  As you can see by the image, the black and white are pixelated into very small dots that create the image.
This image is a grayscale. Grayscale shows different varieties of black and white that create what look like shades of grey.  There are 256 colors or less within a grayscale photo.

This image is an indexical edited image done through photoshop.  This image was saved as a GIF onto my desktop.  This image shows two different colors, black and white within the photo.
